Today in Scottsdale, Arizona, a naked man caused multiple car accidents which left at at least five seriously injured before being subdued by police.
The first incident occured when the suspect's car struck a convertible near Hayden Road and Via de Ventura, causing a passenger of the other car to be ejected and sustain life-threatening injuries.
Scottsdale Police Department spokesman, Sergeant Mark Clark stated:
"The suspect that caused the collision got out of his car afterwards and stripped down naked and he hijacked a Toyota Prius. He did this by pulling the female driver out of the car. She was injured, but not seriously."
The suspect then fled the scene, causing no known damage until he eventually rammed his stolen car into several vehicles near Shea Boulevard and 90th Street.
According to a witness, multiple serious injuries were sustained in the collision involving around 10 to 12 vehicles.
Witness James Maxwell told:
"A naked man was thrown through the windshield of this Prius. [The suspect] landed in the dirt next to the road. He got up and immediately jumped on..I believe..a gray minivan, which slammed on the brakes and the crash continued."
Maxwell went on:
"He began to run around and scream, 'The Indians are coming! The Indians are coming!'"
All in all, Sgt. Clark stated three people, as well as the suspect, were seriously injured in the second incident. He revealed:
The suspect, after collisions with multiple vehicles, got out of his car and attempted to carjack two other vehicles, unsuccessfully. We had an offer on the scene as this was going on who immediately took the suspect into custody without further incident."
Clark stated that there is a high suspicion that the suspect was in an altered state of consciousness of some sort, but that investigators are unsure what exactly caused it at this time.
As a Phoenix car accident attorney, you see your fair share of weird and unlikely incidents, but doesn't it seem like these crazy stories of seemingly normal people doing bizarre things are increasing in their frequency?
It is unclear at this time what would have caused this man to strip naked and go on his crash and hijacking spree in the middle of the day, but toxicology tests will hopefully give us the answer.
Our Phoenix car accident law firm hopes for the speedy and full recovery of those who were injured in these incidents.
