The 19-year-old son of a NASCAR on Fox studio host was reported to have been killed in a car accident last week in Southern California.

Christopher Myers, the son of Fox Sports NASCAR broadcaster, Chris Myers, was reported to have been killed in the fatal car crash on Thursday of last week in Southern California. Subsequently, it has been announced that the studio host will not be a part of Fox's coverage of the NASCAR seasoner opener, the Daytona 500.

Fox Sports media relations manager, Eddie Motl, said in a statement, "It is with tremendous sadness that the FOX Sports family acknowledges the passing of Christopher Myers, 19, son of NASCAR on FOX studio host Chris Myers." Motl said that Fox will understandably be giving Myers as much time off as he needs in the wake of this terrible tragedy.

Myers is set to be replaced in the Fox studio by the SPEED Network's John Roberts. He will be filling in as the studio host for next Saturday's Budweiser Shootout, next Sunday's Dayton 500 qualifiers, as well as the pre-race coverage.

Myers will be travelling home to be with his family, including his wife Sue and other son, Alex, in Thousand Oaks, where they reside.

As a Phoenix car accident lawyer, you see this kind of story much too often. Too many young drivers are dying as the result of a fatal car accident.

Because we do not know the cause of car crash yet, it is unclear whether there is a possibility for a wrongful death claim. We will report on the details as they become available.
